Recordings of performances given at the Eastman School of Music conducted or organized by Hanson and/or including works by Hanson. Contains 139 concerts plus rehearsals from the Annual Festivals of American Music (1933-1938 and 1942-1957) and reading sessions and concerts from the related Symposia of Student Works for Orchestra (1934-1939 and 1943-1957). Includes recordings from sixteen individual American Composers Concerts (1934-1936 and 1950-1957) and eleven Symposia of American Orchestral Music (1936-1938 and 1942-1951), twelve concerts of Hanson conducting the Eastman School Senior Symphony Orchestra, and 78 Graduation Recitals with orchestra. Also includes broadcasts of the radio series, "Milestones in the History of Music" from 1938-1940 and 1950-1953, which feature performances by Eastman School faculty and students, and Eastman performances from radio broadcasts of the "NBC University of the Air" and "NBC Orchestras of the Nation" series, as well as various special concerts, speeches, and lectures by Hanson.
